WHAT HAS THE IRONFAN ACHIEVED?

1)       We have established a multicenter registry with 88 participating sites and have developed a database of fetal anomalies detected at 8-16 wks sonograms. We have analyzed the database using a specially developed time-oriented SPSS software engine. We have classified 227 types of fetal anomalies according with their natural history by ultrasound. The time-oriented FETAL SONOMAPPING™ database indicates the 8-16 wks detection of over 300 types of fetal anomalies and signs and 154 syndromes. The IRONFAN study provides important early knowledge in the detection of fetal malformations and genetic problems.

2)       Results from IRONFAN Research can be seen in two full journal issues:

a)      Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine 14:8, Aug. 1995 (18 articles)

b)      Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology 10:6, Dec.1997 (16 articles)

Other publications are being prepared by IRONFAN participants.

3)       We have developed a new obstetrical calendar : The SonoWheel™(Patent pending). This new device presents a time-oriented data sample of 120 types of structural anomalies and 90 types of organs detected at the 4-16 weeks sonogram. The SonoWheel™ is a giveaway to professionals interested in this research (See "Invitation" section).
